The Taal Volcano!
The Taal Volcano has been called the smallest active volcano in the world. But many people don't realize that it is one of the largest volcanoes in the world. It once towered 18,000 feet up into the sky before it has been covered underwater. It is famous for having an island in a lake on an island in a lake on an island in the Pacific Ocean. A complex volcano located on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. The Volcano itself has a lake inside it's crater called the "Crater lake". The whole environment surrounding Taal is Considered as a Wonder of Nature. Taal Volcano is situated in a highly populated and rapidly growing agricultural and industrial region. Five towns are located around the lakeshore and 2 cities and 8 more towns are lined up along the caldera rim. Two large power stations are located 15 km and 17 km from Taal Lake.
The lake's water is a very diluted form of sulfuric acid with high concentration of boron, magnesium, aluminum and sodium in salt form and it is good for swimming. The low sulfur content is good for the skin, especially if you swim in it regularly.
There has been numerous visits to the island not only by the volcanologists and scientists, but also by the media and tourists. The Taal Lake presents a fantastic chance to visit one of the wonders of nature that has taken hundreds and thousands of years to create, this uniqueness alone makes this a great place in the Philippines to visit for more adventures.
It is home to many species of birds and fish including the rare maliputo, which is a kind of fresh water mackerel that can be found in the waters around volcano island.
